Foundation
Everything started in 1920 in Stuttgart Bad Canstatt when the company founder Otto Specht saw the great potential to develop and produce the right equipment for the leather industry. The aim was not to contribute just anything to the process, but to cover and serve to all relevant process steps, which was particularly appreciated by the customers.
Solidified
The second world war had just ended in 1945 when the founder of the company Otto Specht, died unexpectedly. His widow, herself a stranger to the industry, was glad to have found a professional successor in Theo Lang, a business partner of her husband. So he was a worthy successor from the leather industry and co-owner of the company Lang & Grönwoldt. In 1955 the company moved into the new building in the “Porschestrasse”. The company Otto Specht progressed well and the international business grew, so that in the 60s an extension and a new floor were added to the building.
Proven
Golden 50 years of company history is celebrated !
The first fairs in France, later on in Hong Kong and Italy were a great success. International business relations were established and exports grew strongly. After the sudden and unexpected death of Theo Lang in 1973, his wife Lore Lang took over the company. Their daughter Monica Lang entered into the company in 1992.
Established
After 10 years in the family business, Monica Lang joined the management in 2002.
In the 90s and 2000s, the first computers were installed, a great upheaval occurred worldwide, e-mails facilitated worldwide communication. Otto Specht invested in promotion and marketing and appeared on the global market in 2003 with his own homepage and professional pictures.
In 2006 Lore Lang retired from the company.
Renowned
1920 – 2020: The Otto Specht company celebrated its 100th anniversary in a difficult time, in the middle of a pandemic.
The company has been owned by the Lang family for almost 80 years, which makes us very proud.
We are always looking ahead. Only this way we can see what is coming up and by additionally taking our history into consideration we can offer the best and highest quality products for our customers.
